Editor’s Letter

For those I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting yet, my name is Olga Angelidis. I am socially creative, culturally driven, and love building new relationships. My deep involvement in the Russian-speaking community in Melbourne and across Australia has been a significant part of my journey. It all began when I created several social groups for networking, helping people find friends and build business connections within our community. I envisioned a hub where we could come together, offer our unique products and services, and, most importantly, embrace and celebrate our vibrant culture. Today, the Russian Women’s Network groups have grown to more than 15,000 active members throughout Australia.

With a desire to further serve our community and bring our culture, ideas, and values to life, I launched Red Magazine in 2012. Since then, we’ve published seven bimonthly print magazines, each receiving tremendous support and positive feedback. During this period, I was also working on my personal development while raising a family, navigating changes, transitions, and growing experiences.

In 2015, Red transitioned from print to the digital landscape, making our magazine more accessible to the community, free of charge. This change allowed our content to spread much further and attract more readers. Regular updates enable our community to engage with one another, support our small businesses, and share similar interests. We publish articles in both English and Russian, catering to a broader audience.

In 2019, we took another step forward by introducing exclusive networking events: Black, Red, White, and Gold. Each event was unique and served its own purpose. Our guests found exactly what they were looking for, whether it was relaxation, a break from routine, new experiences, or meeting new people. We have extended our services and marketing offers to businesses, fostering lasting relationships with key players in Melbourne’s entertainment industry, hospitality vendors, and suppliers of unique gifts and event supplies.

Now, in 2024, we run a Marketing/Advertising business that supports and offers unique exposure and connections to all migrants from Russian-speaking backgrounds in Australia. At the same time, we continue to organize networking events for our community. I firmly believe that anything is possible with the right attitude, supportive family and friends, a strong connection to your cultural background, a solid set of values and beliefs, and, most importantly, honesty and passion driving you closer to your goals each day. I am constantly seeking new ways to improve our services and connections to our people.

If you’ve read my letter and would like to reach out, I am always open for a chat. Your feedback is invaluable, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
